And Still, 50 Years: The Allen Building Takeover of 1969 (2019)

Single-channel documentary film, 23 minutes
And Still, 50 Years reflects on the legacy of Black student resistance and the question of progress at Duke University. Using archival materials and conversations with past and current students, the film juxtaposes the Allen Building Takeovers of 1969 and 2016.
The original protest is contextualized within the broader shift from respectability politics in the Black Power Movement. This served as a driving force for Black college students across America to begin critiquing power within the university.
Some interviews conducted in collaboration with Bruce Orenstein and Dilsey Davis.
